If you travel from one place to another place connecting through UAE then you can get Visa on Arrival or Transit Visa (Issued by Airline). For example, If you are Flying from Mumbai to Dubai to London, having Tickets from Mumbai to London. Next Departure Flight to your Final Destination from Dubai should be at least eight hours after the time of arrival at the airport.
In the above example If you are Flying from Mumbai to London and your Flight from Dubai is after a minimum of 8 hours from Dubai to London then you can get Transit Visa.
If you are a citizen of below-shown visa-free countries, you can get a visa on arrival for 14, 30 or 90 days depending on your nationality and other parameters.
If your country is not listed below, you have to get a Transit Visa issued by your Airline.
If you are an Indian citizen with a valid United States visa, you can get a visit visa on arrival in UAE which is valid for 14 days.
How to get Transit Visa?
If you are not from the countries listed above you have to apply for a transit visa through the airline that you are flying. You have to produce hotel reservation confirmation also for getting Transit Visa.

You need to get the Visa issued before the date of travel. Visa should be valid for use for 14 days from the date of issue.
You can stay only 96 hours in UAE using the Transit Visa.
