Unemployment Insurance is going to start in UAE on 1st January 2023 where Private sector and Federal government Employees will get the benefits by paying Dh5 per month.

If the Job is lost Employees will get 60% of their Salary (Maximum of 10,000 AED per month for Category A and Maximum of 20,000 AED per month for Category B) as cash benefit up to three consecutive months per claim, if the job loss is due to termination for a non-disciplinary reason.

Compensation: Monthly compensation is 60% of the average salary over the most recent 12 months prior to the Involuntary Loss of Employment.

Amount:  

For Category A: Maximum Claim Benefits: AED 10,000 per month

For Category B: Maximum claim Amount: AED 20,000 per month

Duration: 3 consecutive months

Plans

Category A

Premium: AED 5 / Month, AED 60 / Year and AED 120 / 2 Years

Basic Salary: Equal to or Below AED 16,000

Monthly Benefit:

  • 60% of the subscribed salary
  • Up to 10,000 AED per month
  • Up to 3 consecutive months

Category B

Premium: AED 10 / Month, AED 120 / Year and AED 240 / 2 Years

Basic Salary: Above AED 16,000

Monthly Benefit:

  • 60% of the subscribed salary
  • Up to 20,000 AED per month
  • Up to 3 consecutive months

  • Monthly
  • Quarterly
  • Semi Annual
  • Annual / Full

Eligibility Criteria

A Minimum subscription period of (12) twelve consecutive months is required without interruption for three consecutive months.

Employees have to pay all the insurance premiums due on time

Reason of unemployment is not due to resignation which should be proved by the Insured Person.

The Insured may not be dismissed for disciplinary reasons 

Insured Person have to submit the claim within (30) thirty days from the date of loss of the work relationship

The Insured must be legally present in the United Arab of Emirates

Employee should not have an existing complaint related to absence from work.

If there is fraud or deceit involved in his / her claim the employee will not be entitled for compensation.

Loss of Job should not be the result of non-peaceful labor strikes or stoppages.

Loss of Job should not be the result of one of the following reasons:

War, riot, insurrection, armed rebellion, revolution, military or usurping force, invasion, act of a foreign enemy, hostilities, civil war, or civil disorder.

Discharge of pollutants, a nuclear event, a radioactive, toxic, explosive or other dangerous effect of any explosive nuclear equipment or part of such equipment.

Biological or chemical pollution resulting from or contributing to terrorism.

Direct action by the government of the UAE that led to the expropriation or nationalization of the employer’s facility or the confiscation of his/her money, leading to insolvency.

Force majeure (unforeseeable circumstances) in accordance with the Civil Transactions Law.

Insurance is provided by the Dubai Insurance Company, which is the representative of the insurance pool consisting of nine companies:
