https://4humanity.ae/ is the official website where you can volunteer for the #4Humanity campaign Global Phase III Clinical Trial of COVID 19 in United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Clinical trials of the world’s first phase 3 Covid 19 inactive vaccine trials in the UAE is conducted by Abu Dhabi-based G42 Healthcare, in coordination with Abu Dhabi Health Services Company [SEHA], Ministry of Health and Prevention and Chinese pharmaceutical major Sinopharm under the supervision of Department of Health Abu Dhabi.
Eligibility to become Volunteer:
- UAE resident
- Between 18 years - 60 years of age
- Medical history to be checked to ensure you can participate.
The Phase III clinical trials will test up to 15,000 volunteers including men and women, between 18 – 60 years of age, of mixed nationalities.
The complete process of clinical trials for vaccine testing, known as clinical development, follows four stages.
Pre-trial, which is conducted on animals;
Phase I, during which small groups of people receive the trial vaccine;
Phase II, where the clinical study is expanded, and the vaccine is administered to people who have particular characteristics (such as age and physical health) similar to those for whom the new vaccine is intended;
Phase III, where the vaccine is administered to thousands of people and tested for efficacy and safety.
The trials should be completed in 6 to 8 months
The vaccine being tested in the UAE is made from an inactivated form of the Covid-19 virus developed by Sinopharm.
Volunteers may, in some cases, experience short-term side-effects, similar to those from any vaccination, such as arm soreness or feeling tired or unwell.
Each volunteer will be provided with a care package to understand the process and potential side-effects that may occur. This will also be discussed individually.
